A TV program named Sail out, are you ready? was officially launched on June 11, 2014 in Mawei District, Fuzhou, southeast China’s Fujian province. It is a Chinese-version ocean adventure reality show.

In the following 60 days, six teenagers from around the country will sail an unpowered sailboat and follow their ancestors’ sailing route to Southeast Asia.

The voyage will cover ten cities in four countries, from the South China Sea to the Philippines (Manila, Cebu), Indonesia (Balikpapan, Surabaya, Bandung, and Jakarta), Singapore, and Malaysia (Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang). The teenagers will introduce the profound history and culture borne by the “Maritime Silk Road” through this extreme sea survival.

The teenagers need to take pictures to record their journey and tell the stories behind the photos. They will also share their feelings during the entire trip. The journey will be recorded and edited into 12 episodes. After completion, the program will be broadcasted on mainstream Chinese TV channels home and abroad.
