Tianjin to Hold Festival of Western-style Food

North China's Tianjin city is to hold an international western-style food festival in September, as announced Thursday by Xia Baolong, deputy mayor of the city.

The festival will consist of food show, cuisine contest, symposium and business talk. The organizers will also invite chefs from German, Britain, Italy and Russia to deliver live cook presentations.

The event is to give Chinese people more introductory knowledge about western-style food and promote the industry in the country.

Although most Chinese people are now quite familiar with western snacks such as Mcdonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), they seldom try classic western-style food.

The festival is jointly sponsored by the China Cuisine Association and the municipal government of Tianjin.
