Ten soldiers were killed and four other seriously injured on Thursday when a Russian Mi-8 troop transport helicopter crashed in Chechnya, ORT television reported citing military sources.
The cause of the crash has not yet been established, although the office of Chechen "president" Aslan Maskhadov said guerrilla fighters had downed the chopper.
The helicopter crashed while coming in to land near the village of Engenoi, in a mountainous region 60 kilometers (37 miles) southeast of the capital Grozny, Russian reports said.
