First Batch of Chinese E-books Issued

The world's first Chinese electronic book reader named "Xinhua E-BOOK" simultaneously made debut in Beijing and Taipei on July 11 afternoon.

The e-book reader, not larger than a book, is portable and multi-functional. It is available for reading and managing e-books, visiting Internet, staging multimedia Audi-Visio program and playing games. It can store information of dozens of books for one time and download books from the Internet. Xinhua Book Store will provide accordingly quantity of special software at low price. Meanwhile, Xinhua Post has opened a new channel at its web www.cccpost.com on the e-book reader.

According to inside sources from Xinhua Post, "Xinhua E-Book" is the first Chinese electronic book reader put out in the world. Jointly developed by Xinhua Bookstore with a history of 60 years and a technology company of Taiwan, it is not only on a par with its first English counterpart in terms of technology and function but will also claim a significant part in updating people's Chinese reading.
