India Ready to Discuss Kashmir with Pakistan: Vajpayee
Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said on Sunday that New Delhi would have no hesitation talking on Kashmir with Pakistan Chief Executive Pervez Musharraf, according to the Statesman newspaper on Monday.
India was prepared to discuss all outstanding issues including Kashmir with Pakistan and "we are hopeful of finding some solution during talks with Musharraf in New Delhi," Vajpayee was quoted as saying during his visit to west state of Gujarat, which was hit by a strong earthquake in January.
Vajpayee said that "We are trying to improve relations with out neighbors. We have invited Gen. Musharraf to India to discuss all problems, including Kashmir. We are ready to talk on anything."
In his address to a public rally in Bhuj, the epicenter of the earthquake, Vajpayee said he was happy that Musharraf had accepted his invitation last month for a visit to New Delhi to discuss bilateral issues.
The meeting between the two leaders will be the first since October 1999, when Musharraf came to power on October 12 while Vajpayee swore in as Indian prime minister the next day.
