US Spy Plane to Be Disassembled and Returned, FM Spokesman
China has agreed to a US proposal that the US reconnaissance plane in Hainan be disassembled and returned to the United States, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao Thursday.
Zhu said at a regular press conference that China and the United States have continued discussions on returning the US EP- 3 reconnaissance plane and China has agreed to the recent proposal raised by the United States.
The two sides will continue to negotiate on the technical details of the disassembling and returning of the plane, he said.
The US plane collided with a Chinese military plane near China's coast on April 1, causing the crash of the latter. It then landed at an airport on south China's Hainan Island.
