The following are figures about China's trade with its top ten partners from January to February, 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

Japan

: total, 12.37 billion US dollars, up 15.8 percent on an annual basis; exports, 6.218 billion dollars, up 21.5 percent; imports, 6.152 billion dollars, up 10.5 percent.

--

The United States

: total, 10.747 billion US dollars, up 15 percent; exports, 7.176 billion US dollars, up 11.3 percent; imports, 3.571 billion US dollars, up 23.1 percent.

--

The European Union

: total, 11.332 billion US dollars, up 20.3 percent; exports, 6.302 billion US dollars, up 19 percent; imports, 5.03 billion US dollars, up 22 percent.

--

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

: total, 7.148 billion US dollars, up 5.4 percent; exports, 5.956 billion US dollars, up 4.8 percent; imports, 1.192 billion US dollars, up 8.3 percent.

ASEAN countries

: total, 5.847 billion US dollars, up 28.3 percent; exports, 2.461 billion US dollars, up 27.9 percent; imports, 3.386 billion US dollars, up 28.6 percent.

The Republic of Korea

: total, 4.918 billion US dollars, up 11.6 percent; exports, 1.617 billion US dollars, up 13.2 percent; imports, 3.301 billion US dollars, up 10.8 percent.

Taiwan Province

: total, 4.119 billion US dollars, up 10.8 percent; exports, 585.065 million US dollars, down 9.4 percent; imports, 3.533 billion US dollars, up 15 percent.

Australia

: total, 1.082 billion US dollars, down 16.4 percent; exports, 491.578 million US dollars, up 5.6 percent; imports, 589.967 million US dollars, down 28.7 percent.

Russia

: total, 1.759 billion US dollars, up 98.7 percent; exports, 351.73 million US dollars, up 35.2 percent; imports, 1. 407 billion US dollars, up 125 percent.

Canada

: total, 947.959 million US dollars, down 9.4 percent; exports, 467.974 million US dollars, up 9.6 percent; imports, 479.985 million US dollars, down 22.5 percent.
