Guangzhou Per-capita Income Ranks First in 10 Major Cities in China
The per-capita income of Guangzhou citizens ranks the first among the ten big cities of China. A report submitted by statistic department to the Guangzhou National People's Congress says that the per-capita income in Guangzhou soared to 13,967 yuan in the year 2000.
Among the 10 cities of Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Shenyang, Wuhan, Nanjing, Harbin and Xian dealt with in the report, last year saw the biggest GDP growth in Guangzhou, which exceeded 238.3 billion yuan, up 13.6 percent, right behind that of Shanghai and of Beijing.
As reported, among the ten major cities across the country, only the per-capita disposable income of urban residents in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing exceeded 10,000 yuan with that of Guangzhou topped among them all.. The deposit balance of RMB of the urban residents of the three cities are almost on a par, among which, Guangzhou reported more than 220 billion yuan, Beijing and Shanghai, over 290 billion and 250 billion respectively.
