The 18th Weifang International Kite Festival
The 18th Weifang International Kite Festival will be held at Weifang in Shangdong Province on April 20, 2001, according to Beijing Review.
The festival is expected to be a platform for trade and commercial development. The festival sponsored by the local government will be a cultural and commercial event.
More than 100 kite teams with over 900 people will attend the International Kite Contest and about 10,000 participants will enjoy in the kite-flying activities. The opening ceremonies will include an entrance ceremony, a theatrical festival and fireworks. During the festival, there are to be colorful cultural, sports and traditional activities, such as dragon-boat racing and a fishing contest, lantern show and folk-custom travel. The main trade activities will be the Ruyang Dukang Cup International Kites Fair, the International Brandy and Wine Exhibition, and the 2001 China Shouguang International Vegetables Exhibition.
