Japanese Cultural Relics on Show in Shanghai
An exhibition on selected Japanese cultural relics opened in Shanghai Saturday, featuring Japan's sculpture, fine arts, paintings and calligraphy.
The items on display include pottery, pottery figures, bronze, woodcarvings, masks, lacquerworks, screens and other exhibits totaling of 101 pieces.
Organizers claim that all exhibits are priceless treasures. The seven state-class exhibits will immediately be escorted back to Japan after the close of the exhibition. Japanese law prohibits state-class cultural relics to be displayed overseas for more than one month.
The exhibition is jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Museum, the Agency for Cultural Affairs of the Japanese Education Ministry, and the Nara National Museum of Japan.
