Baoshan Furnaces Most Economical in the World
Three titanic blast furnaces in the Shanghai-based Baoshan Iron and Steel Corp. last year recorded the world's lowest energy consumption required for blast furnace working procedure.
The Baoshan furnaces used 402.7 kilograms per ton of iron to produce one ton of qualified pig iron product. The amount of energy consumed to work the furnaces is an important indication of the production level of blast furnaces.
Last year was the third year in a row that the Baoshan corporation has maintained the world's lowest record of energy consumption in blast furnaces, thanks to the innovative techniques they have adopted.
