China to Operate Tourism On-line

China will start a project to operate tourism on-line and develop e-commerce in the industry, announced the National Tourism Administration Thursday.

At an on-going national conference on tourism, officials with the administration said a network of office automation in the industry will be built in three to five years. Apart from the management, a public commerce network will mainly deal with the business of individuals and tourism companies.He Guangwei, director of the administration, hoped that the commerce network will improve the competitiveness of the country's enterprises.

The commerce network is headquartered in Beijing and has several branches around the country.
