China Exports 800,000 Motorcycles to Vietnam through Friendship Pass

China exported a record 800,000 motorcycles in 2000 via the Friendship Pass in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Two reasons are cited for the huge motorcycle export to Vietnam. One reason is that motorcycles made in China are of high quality and inexpensive, with good post-sale services. So, they are well received by Vietnamese consumers.

The other reason is that Chinese motorcycle manufacturers have seized the opportunity stemming from the substantial increase in demand in the Southeast Asian market, and done all they can to market their products there.
