Motorcycle Export Increases in Chongqing

Chongqing, one of the leading motorcycle producers in southwest China, exported 810,000 motorcycles to 67 countries and regions in the first 11 months of this year, an increase of 770 percent over the year-ago period.

Major importers of motorcycles included Viet Nam, Indonesia, Iran, Bangladesh, Argentina and Nigeria.

The Lifanhongda Group, a non-public motorcycle maker, has set up assembling factories in Viet Nam, South Africa and Iran and opened a trade representative's office in Nigeria.

"We strive to become a transnational group with an annual export of 500,000 to one million motorcycles," said Yin Mingshan, general manager of the group.

However, Chinese motor experts admitted that China still lags behind the developed countries in new model development. The country is taking measures to increase variety and improve product quality and after-sale services.
