Hong Kong's First Silk Newspaper Comes off the Press
The Hong Kong-based Wen Wai Po Daily held a ceremony to celebrate the publication of its silk edition entitled "the First Day of the 21st Century" on January 8.
The silk edition, the first silk paper ever published in Hong Kong and designed especially for collection, came off the press on January 1, 2001. It has eight pages, being the most in the world, and its circulation is limited to 2001 copies.
The contents of the edition include the New Year Message delivered by Chinese President Jiang Zemin, and New Year Day speeches by Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee Hwa, and director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR Jiang Enzhu.
The paper also contains the top 10 events of great influence on China and the whole world and remarkable changes in science during the 20th century, as well as the blueprint for Hong Kong's development.
