Northeast China Province Seizes Illegally-imported Pig's Feet
The Bureau for Inspection and Quarantine of Anshan in northeast China's Liaoning Province, together with local commercial and trade committees, have confiscated 5,490 kilograms of illegally-imported pig's feet.
Authorities from these departments recently conducted a regular inspection on a food market and discovered that two businessmen were selling pig's feet packaged with fraudulent content information. The feet, coming from Great Britain and the Netherlands, weighed 490 kilograms.
Acting on a tip, inspectors also seized 5,000 kilograms of pig's feet from France. All the imported pig's feet had been sealed for further investigation.
The Chinese government bans the import of animals and animal product from countries in such regions plagued by Mad Cow Disease.
