Northeast China Port Reports Fast Growth of Container Transportation

The container transportation volume of Dalian, northeast China's largest port, is expected to reach one million TEUs this year.

According to the latest statistics, the port has kept an annual growth rate of 40 percent ever since it started container transportation business with its Singapore partner four years ago. The growth rate is one of the fastest among major Chinese ports.

The port administration and the local government planned to build three new berths for the fifth and sixth generation containers.

According to the plan, by the year 2005, the container throughput of the Dalian port will reach 2.3 million TEUs, and the figure will reach four million by the year 2010.
