China's Customs Revenue Tops 200 Billion Yuan

It is learnt from the General Administration of Customs that following the register of a customs tax revenue of 100 billion yuan last year, such revenue has further increased this year. By the end of November 30, the fgure had topped 200 billion yuan to reach 201.006 billion yuan, an increase of 56.334 billion yuan, or 38.94 percent, over the same period last year.

Customs tax revenue this year has surged by a large margin. This is, firstly, due to the effective implementation of a series of important measures of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to augment domestic demand and expand exports, which has led to a substantial increase in imports and expansion of tax sources. From January to October, the value of the country's imported goods totaled US$182.019 billion, up 38.6 percent over the same period last year. Some large and medium manufacturing enterprises, which registered a great import growth, have become the pillar of customs tax revenue.

Secondly, it is due to the successful comprehensive treatment in the import and export fields, the notable enhancement in enterprises' awareness of paying tax according to law, thus creating a favorable environment for the growth of tax revenue, and to the effective checks put to the large-scale smuggle. From January to October this year, China's customs departments cracked a total of over 10,000 smuggling cases that involved a value of 7.364 billion yuan.

Thirdly, customs departments nationwide have implemented the principle of "exercising administration according to law and guaranteeing the collection of tax for the State", strengthened supervision and management, regulated taxation according to law, and guaranteed that tax is collected where it should be.
