China Erects Giant Viaduct

China Erects Giant Viaduct
China has lately erected its biggest city-through viaduct---Tianjin Huanghai Road Shijiazhuang Viaduct through a two-year concerted effort made by builders of China Railway 18th Department.

This extra-large viaduct is a three-layer cloverleaf-shaped city-through overpass built 5.3 km long, over an area of 30 hectares, bridge-surface 32m wide, piers 20m high, at a cost of RMB$520 million. With final touches being now applied, the viaduct is said to be completed and open to traffic in May 2001.
