Beijing Ferrets out ``Hitler'' MugsA customer tip-off that Hitler brand mugs being sold at a Beijing shop triggered instant ''purge'' by municipal law enforcement officers on Tuesday, November 28.The downtown Fuchengmen store of Hualian Market, one of China's largest chain retailers, sold three such mugs before stopped by a squad of Beijing industry and commerce administration officers, according to chinadaily.com.cn. ``It's photographers' neon lights making us realize what we are wrong,'' a store manager told the enforcers. The manager admitted the store did not pay much attention to the mugs being put on shelf, because it wears a three-Chinese-character trademark with the same English pronunciation of ``Hitler.'' However, an official with the Beijing's Administration of Industry and Commerce said the Chinese logo remained illegal, violating Article Eight of China's Trademark Law, which prohibits brands causing confusion and damaging ethical codes. On Tuesday, the Hualian Market ordered all its chain stores to sweep the mugs, the Beijing Morning Post reported on Wednesday. Initial investigation has found out the problematic mugs originate from a dealer in Shanghai, the newspaper said.
