Online Drug Purchase Promoted in Hainan
Hainan Province in south China recently invited a public bidding on drug purchase through internet and saw a total 25 million yuan turnover. The project undertaker is Hainan Weihong Medicine E-commerce Co., Ltd., Sea Rainbow Group's (SZSE: 0503) controlling subsidiary, which operates a website.
12 medical units and 70 medical companies were attracted, among which 39 passed the qualification audit and 23 finally won the bids. The drugs involved up to 150 cordis and blood vessel categories among which 64 categories found their suppliers, 66 categories were under negotiation. The bidding prices saw an average decrease of 31.01%.
From September 4, State Administration of Medicine Bureau and Hainan Sanitation Office jointly accredited Hainan Weihong Medicine E-commerce Co., Ltd. as the intermediary of Hainan drug e-commerce bidding and to be responsible for online purchase, bidding, bid evaluation, contract signing and delivery etc. by law.
According to Jian Liangsheng, director of Hainan Sanitation Office, except for special and rarely used drugs for anesthesia and psychosis, the rest drugs needed by hospitals above the county level should be purchased through internet to make online supply up to 70% of the total. (Panorama)
