Prices of 120 Drug Categories Lowered
Starting from November 5, prices of 120 categories of home made drugs will be lowered with great range. According to the circular issued by State Development Planning Commission, the average 20% and the maximum 60% decline range could be attained. It is estimated that this decline could mitigate 2 billion burden off the social medical expense each year.
This is the third reduction following the ones in January and July respectively.
As the sources from the State Development Planning Commission, two factors resulted in this decline. First, drug production cost fell because of the prices shedding of raw material and the scale expansion of production. Second, market demand excelled supply and the manufacturer's price dropped obviously. Basing on these, the State Development Planning Commission ratified that maximum retail price and gave discount in favor of the consumer.
Meanwhile, the State Development Planning Commission will keep on its supervision and investigation to sustain its controlling to the drug price in order to reduce the social medical expense.
