French President to Visit China

President Jacques Rene Chirac of the Republic of France will pay an official visit to China on October 23, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao announced Thursday at the regular press conference.

Zhu said that during his China trip Chirac will attend, as President of the European Council and together with President Romano Prodi of the EU Commission, the third China-EU Summit with Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji.

He said that Chirac is invited by Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
