Singapore Navy Hosts First Multilateral Submarine Exercise

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is hosting the first multilateral submarine rescue exercise in the western Pacific region, code named Exercise Pacific Reach 2000, the Singapore Defense Ministry said Monday in a statement.

The exercise will be held from October 2 to 14, and will bring together 600 participants, four submarines, four support ships and other submarine rescue systems from Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the United States.

The statement said that Australia, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, China, Russia and the United Kingdom have been invited to send participants to observe the exercise.
