Tianjin Sets Up 100,000-Ton Bulk Cargo Berth

Tianjin, a leading port city in north China, has recently set up its first 100,000-ton berth for iron ore transportation.

Built at a cost of 192 million yuan, the 16.5-meter-deep berth is designed for 100,000-ton bulk cargo vessels and has an annual handling capacity of 6 million tons of iron ore.

The construction of the berth started in October last year, and it is aimed at meeting the demand of the booming development of the country's iron and steel industry and shipment of the ore on large iron ore transport vessels.
