Beijing Opens to Welcome Globalization

Beijing will act as a key member to make sure cities all over the world work together in light of rapid economic globalization, Beijing Mayor Liu Qi said Thursday.

Liu made the remarks at a banquet held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse of Beijing this evening for the attendants of the Sixth Major Cities' Summit, which opened here this morning.

Liu said that Beijing hopes to learn from other cities all over the world to solve the problems in the city's developments so that Beijing will become an international city with more cooperation with them.

Present at the banquet were Jia Qinglin, a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, and Qi Huaiyuan, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, among others.
