Exports in Northeast China Increase

Foreign trade, exports in particular, in northeast Chinese provinces have seen a rapid increase in the first half of this year.

Exports and imports in the port city of Dalian in Liaoning province, hit 8.5 billion US dollars, up 47.5 percent from the same period last year. Exports reached 4.65 billion US dollars, up 49.6 percent while imports reached 3.85 billion US dollars, up 45.1 percent.

Liaoning province has achieved growth in foreign trade of machinery and electrical appliances in the first five months, with exports reaching 1.52 billion US dollars, accounting for 22 percent of total exports in the province.

Foreign trade in Manzhouli city, close to the China-Russia border in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, also increased. Exports hit 109 million US dollars, up 12 percent, and imports hit 210 million US dollars, up 124 percent.

Analysts said that increase in exports can be attributed to the expansion in processing trade, better performance of State-owned enterprises, optimized exports structure, and improved investment environment in China.
