Hong Kong Ready to Celebrate SAR's 3rd Anniversary

The Home Affairs Bureau will organize two major celebration activities to mark the third anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

To encourage community participation in celebrating the anniversary, the bureau, in conjunction with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will hold a community concert in the evening, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., on July 1 at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

The concert will feature the world famous China Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the Hong Kong Children's Choir, and local celebrity Roman Tam.

On the same day, members of the public are also welcome to attend the flag-raising ceremony which will start at 8 a.m. at the Bauhinia Square outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to mark the anniversary. Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa and over 500 guests, including senior government officials, dignitaries and community leaders, will attend the ceremony.

A choir drawn from two schools will for the first time sing the National Anthem during the ceremony.
