Japan to Lift Restriction on Visas for Chinese Tourists

Japan plans to issue visas next month to Chinese group tourists, Transport Minister Toshihiro Nikai said Tuesday in Tokyo.

After a working-level talks between Japanese and Chinese officials at the end of this month, Japan is going to issue approximately 5,000 visas from July to December -- less than 1,000 per month -- to Chinese tourists, Nikai told a press conference.

Japan only issues visas for work or study purposes to Chinese citizens by far.
