South China Tiger Triplets Born in Shanghai ZooA five-year-old South China Tiger, Le Le, recently gave birth to triplets in the Shanghai Zoo.The three cubs, one male and two females, are all being fed by their mother and are growing healthily, according to zoo keepers. Their father, Kang Kang, is Le Le's brother. The South China Tiger is found only in China. The country now has only 50 of the tigers living in four breeding bases in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing and Hangzhou. Shanghai Zoo first bred the tigers in the 1960s, and to date six generations have survived. The zoo also has set up a gene data base for the tiger species, in an effort to reduce inbreeding.
