Swiss Ambassador to China Dominque Dreyer, who is on his third visit to Tibet, said here today that the autonomous region has witnessed rapid social and economic development and the Tibetan people's living standards have greatly improved.
Dreyer met with Vice Chairman Xu Mingyang of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Government today. They discussed the assistance of the Swiss Red Cross in Tibet, the region's medical and sanitary conditions, as well as cultural relics protection.
According to Xu, medical assistance from Switzerland is playing an important role in Tibet. The Swiss Red Cross has donated about 2.4 million yuan to help train medical staff in Tibet.
Xu expressed the hope that more Swiss tourists will come to Tibet to look at its beautiful scenery and also to get to know the real situation of Tibet.
