New Railway to Be Built in East China

China has completed the feasibility study for building a 351-km-long railway in the Yangtze River delta.

The new railway will run from Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, through Yangzhou and Taizhou to Nantong, all booming cities in the same province.

Capital needed for the construction of the railway line, which is estimated at about 3.76 billion yuan (about 453 million US dollars), will be provided by China's Ministry of Railways and the Jiangsu Provincial Government.

The Yangtze River delta is well-known for its prosperous industries of petro-chemicals, iron and steel, home electrical appliances, shipbuilding, textile, and tourism.

Experts said the new railway will help accelerate the development of the regional economy.
