Shanghai Police Uncover First Internet Porn Case

Shanghai police said Tuesday they have arrested a man suspected of spreading porn on the Internet, the first Internet porn case uncovered in the Chinese financial center.

Initial police investigations reveal that Shang Xinjun, an employee with the Wenhua Technological Co., Ltd. in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, placed 33 pornographic pictures on a homepage at a Shanghai-funded website: www.myrice. com. The website attracted more than 1.45 million surfers in the past few months.

Shang was also found to have had connections with overseas porn websites. He said he spread pornography on the Net to attract advertisements.
