Sun Wen Wins Golden Ball and Golden Shoe Awards
China national women soccer team captain Sun Wen and an official from the China Soccer Association flew from Taipei to Brussels to attend the 1999 FIFA awards ceremony January 24. Sun was awarded the Golden Ball award, given to the most outstanding player of the FIFA Women's World Cup USA '99.
Sun Wen also shared the Golden Shoe award with Brazilian Sissi for being the joint top scorers at the FIFA Women's World Cup. Both players finished the tournament with seven goals and three assists.
China national women soccer team was awarded the Fair Play award at the ceremony.
