Seven cities have submitted written applications to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to host the 2008 Olympics one week before the deadline, IOC said in Lausanne on Monday.

The cities are Istanbul, Havana, Osaka (Japan), Paris, Beijing, Seville (Spain) and Toronto, the IOC revealed. Bids are also expected from Buenos Aires, Cairo, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur and Rio de Janeiro in the coming days.
