Sports Hingis Enters Quarterfinals of Australian Open

World number one Martina Hingis of Switzerland entered the quarterfinals by beating French hope Sandrine Testud Monday at the Australian Open with a 6-1, 7-6 victory in the fourth round.

Hingis broke the French 12th seed's serve twice in the opening set and calmly fought back from a 3-0 deficit in the second to force a tiebreak, which she won 7-3, reports said.

Her quarterfinal opponent will be Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario of Spain, who beat Austrian Barbara Schett earlier Monday. (Xinhua)
