Sports China Trounces Philippines in Asia Cup

China opened its Asia Cup soccer preliminary Group 9 matches on Sunday by beating the Philippines 8-0 in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam.

The Chinese squad dominated the play and opened scoring only three minutes into the match.

China led the first half 7-0 and sealed the winner on Ma Mingyu's last goal with 10 minutes left.

Hosts Vietnam drubbed Guam 11-0 on the Same day.

Vietnam unleashed its relentless attacks from the start and scored their first goal in the second minute. The hosts led 7-0 before break and added four more in the second half, which was played in the rain.

China, who beat the Philippines 8-0 in an earlier match on Sunday, will meet Guam on Wednesday. Vietnam will face the Philippines on the same day.
