Culture Guangdong Exhibits Peter Ludwig Art Collection

An art exhibition opened January 21 in Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong Province featuring 84 pieces donated to the China Art Gallery by the renowned German collector Professor Peter Ludwig (1925-1996) and his wife Irene Ludwig.

The Ludwig couple were well-known entrepreneurs in Germany witha favorite hobby of collecting art, and were respected for donating parts of their collection to many countries around the world.

The couple gave 117 classic and modern paintings to the China Art Gallery in 1996.

Today's exhibit was selected from the couple's donation to the China Art Gallery. Famous artists from Beijing, Guangdong, and Hong Kong, as well as diplomats from the consulates of European countries in Guangzhou, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
