China Promotes Development of E-commerce
China is working on a new e-commerce system to promote development of its enterprises.
Zhao Xiaofan, deputy director-general of the State Information Office, said today at a symposium that the development of e-commerce on the Internet plays a crucial role in promoting information technology in modern enterprises.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Information Industry and the State Economic and Trade Commission jointly set up a special panel to regulate promotion of information technology among enterprises.
The government will also establish a certification center for e-commerce, issue new regulations and policies as well as initiate trial projects.
"The promotion of information technology in large and medium-sized state enterprises aims to sharpen their competitive edge and help them out of difficulties by upgrading their production capability," said Zhao.
A total of 520 key large and medium-sized state enterprises will initially promote the development of e-commerce.
