China The Qinghai-Tibet Highway Crucial to Tibetan

A team of trucks with daily necessities for the Tibetan residents drive along a U loop of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, the most important road getting from north into Tibet, as they advance towards Lhasa, Tibet, December 25, 1999, the 45th anniversary of the completion of the road. All of the oil and 85% of the daily consuming materials needed by Tibetans are transported by trucks against hardships along the 2,000 km highway and the especially important plateau road has been kept in good conditions for years.
