Sunday, December 19, 1999, updated at 10:00(GMT+8) Education Chinese College Students Expect Macao's Return All books on Macao at Nankai University in north China's Tianjin Municipality have been lent out as students learn more about the future special administrative region. College students decorated the campus with blossoms and banners and held various activities such as parties, concerts, seminars and general knowledge contests to welcome the return of Macao on December 20. Students in the Chemistry Department folded 100,000 paper cranes which will be released in the air with 1,999 hydrogen balloons to celebrate Macao's return to the motherland. Macao university students receive invitation letters almost every day. Yao Zaixing, a student at the Finance Department of Nankai University said that Macao's pending return to the motherland fills him with an incredible sense of warmth. Beijing opened a website relating to Macao early this month so that tertiary students could communicate and express their feelings towards the pending Macao handover. Over 10,000 students from universities in east China's Jiangsu Province will sign their names and write down their wishes for Macao on a 1,000-meter-long scroll. Several thousand college students from Beijing will attend a gala party tomorrow night at Tian'anmen Square.
