Sports China Cagers to Compete in Diamond Cup

Asian Games and Championship title holder China will challenge world champion Yugoslavia when both teams take part in next year's Diamond Cup basketball invitational tournament in Hong Kong.

The six-team tournament will be held through September 2 to 6, 2000 as a warm-up and preparation for the participants before the Sydney Olympic Games starting in later September next year, the Chinese Basketball Association said in a press conference here on Wednesday.

China, won the Asian championship last year in Fukuoka, Japan, will be the only representative from Asian in the 2000 Games. The other teams which will take part in the Diamond Cup are Yugoslavia, Australia, Canada, Italy and Angola.
