Culture Special Gardens to be Created in Kunming

The city of Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan Province will create special gardens for famous flowers, rare plants and rare stones at the horticulture garden where the '99 World Horticulture Exposition was held recently.

The garden will be a collection of special flowers from all over the world, and rare plants that can "dance", catch insects and send forth delicate fragrances will be included. The unique stones garden will exhibit stones in various shapes from both China and abroad, as well as craft stones bearing carved poems in the handwriting of noted calligraphers.

These gardens will be decorated with lights of multi-colors and various functions to create a magnificent view at night for visitors.

The project will be completed at the end of next year, said an official in charge.

The '99 World Horticulture Expo was held in Kunming from May 1 to October 31, and the local government decided at the end of October that the fair would be extended for another half year.
