China Youth Project to Help Ethnic Economies

China's national youth organization is set to launch a new project in a bid to boost the local economies of ethnic regions.

The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League has announced that it will set into motion next year the "golden bridge plan" designed to help ethnic economic growth and national unity.

The league will give full play to its vast pool of talent, and encourage young scientists and technicians to participate in the development of the country's northwest which is populated by people of ethnic minorities.

In addition, it will help provide information and applied technologies to the ethnic regions, and build a bridge between technological know-how and ethnic economic development, league officials said.

The league plans to organize about 100 people with doctoral degrees to go to the northwestern region, where forums and lectures will be held so that local policy-makers will have a chance to learn and improve their decision-makings.

The experts will also conduct field studies in order to offer advices to economic and social projects that are being planned for the ethnic regions.
