Culture Shanghai International Broadcast Music Festival Ends

The 7th Shanghai International Broadcast Music Festival ended here this evening with a reported total attendance of 15,000 for the five-day event.

The festival's top award, the "Golden Chimes Prize", was won by the Shanghai People's Radio Station. A concert produced by the Voice of Germany, together with a folk song program produced by China Radio International, won the festival's second-place "Silver Chimes Prize".

Zhou Muyao, Shanghai vice mayor and director of the festival organizing committee, said in his closing remarks that the event offered a good opportunity for Chinese and overseas people in the music circle to discuss the challenges that will face their industry in the 21st century.

Some 129 broadcasting stations, companies and audio and video corporations from 29 countries and regions participated.

Also during the festival's special trade fair, 700,000 yuan (US$60, 000) worth of audio and video products were sold.
