Education Natural Science Selective Course Welcomed in Beijing Teachers' University

It's becoming increasingly important in college education to raise the comprehensive science quality of college students. In view of this, Beijing Teachers' University provides all of its students with an optional course "Introduction to Natural Sciences" this semester to enhance science education and to develop students' scientific awareness and spirit.

Featured by a perfect combination of pictures, essays, sound and image in multi-media lecture rooms, the course draws students easily to the palace of science under the guide of famous scholars and professors of the university. The course, which is well received by students, is offered systematically in the capital's universities for the first time.

Prior to the opening of this course, Beijing Teachers' University made careful preparations and arrangements. For example, noted scholars Wang Zikun, Yan Shijian, Zhao zheng and Wu Guoqing made meticulous course design jointly. The course mainly contains six parts, i.e. mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, geophysics and life science. The teachers respectively introduce several important issues of the six disciplines, and explain in details the major influence and value of them in the modern society. In addition, the course covers almost all the research objects, key issues, basic means and ideas, main branches of learning and the latest development trend of the subjects.

After the news was announced from the campus web, the students responded enthusiastically to the course "Introduction to Natural Sciences". Because the lectures given by teachers are vivid and easy-to-understand plus the effect of multi-media, the students are all immersed in the course and there is always thunderous applause at the end of each class. A good many students go to the lecture rooms to occupy seats before the class begins, and there are always dozens of students without seats who have to stand to take the course. Some students from other universities also come to attend this course.

A responsible member of the university informs us that some young teachers are attending the course given by senior professors to train qualified teachers to ensure success for the course of "Introduction to Natural Science".
