Apartment remodeling which has becomes increasingly popular in both urban and rural areas in China is expected to bring the country a business volume of 95 billion yuan this year.

The fast-growing economy and people's increasing pursuit of better living standards have injected vigor into this industry, according to officials with the State Administration of Building Materials Industry.

It is estimated that the average spending per household on apartment remodeling will top 20,000 yuan in Chinese cities this year.

According to experts, the total residential floor space will exceed five billion square meters in cities and towns by the year 2002, when an estimate 83 million apartment units will be remodeled.
