These cadres and masses were inspired by President Jiang's speech on National Day and the spirit of the Central Nationality Work Conference just concluded in Beijing. Cadres at all levels in Xinjiang have expressed their resolve to speed up economic development in Xinjiang and the transformation from resources to industrial edges. Cao Baichun, Party secretary, and Li Zhaozhuo, president, of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, vowed to grapple with the reform of state enterprises and the assistance to the poverty-stricken areas, rev up economic development in the rural areas and opening up, maintain social security and ensure the accomplishment of all operations for the current years. Yunnan vice-governor Li Hanbai said that his province will step up development in the ethnic localities, adhere to and consummate the autonomy system for ethnic areas, endeavor to train more ethnic cadres, reinforce Party leadership over nationality operations , improve the operational level of nationality and foster the economic and social development in the ethnic areas for co-prosperity of all nationalities. Qinghai's vice-Party secretary Sang Jiejia (Tibetan) is fully confident of the future of Qinghai and expressed determination to implement the spirit of the Central Nationality Work Conference, make preparation for tapping northwest China and push up the economy in Qinghai. Cadres and masses of all nationalities in the Tibet Autonomous Region inspired by President Jiang's National Day speech and the spirit of the Central Nationality Work Conference are resolved to make a great effort to make it possible for the united, prosperous, civilized and socialist Tibet to go into the next century under the correct leadership of the Chinese Communist Party with President Jiang Zemin at the core.
