Education China's Largest University Opens A City College

A college of Zhejiang Province' s Zhejiang University, China's largest university, got its first group of freshmen today.

The City College is a joint venture of the city of Hangzhou, the university, and local enterprises and organizations. The city government owns 20 percent of the college, which has nine departments that include computer science, information science, law, journalism, tourism management, and pharmacy. It plans to enroll 3,000 students.

Zhejiang University tops all Chinese universities in numbers of departments, majors, students, faculty, and staff, and in the size of the campus and its computer network. It has more than 30,000 students, 3,500 of them grads, and over 1,500 doctoral candidates, and 10,000 members on its teaching staff. (Xinhua)
