Chinese vice premier vows enhanced U.S. trade cooperation

BEIJING, Sept. 11 -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang said on Wednesday that China and the United States should continue to deepen economic and trade cooperation to contribute to world economic growth.

Wang made the remarks when meeting with President and CEO of the Center for American Progress John Podesta, Former U.S. Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Samuel Berger, and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

While meeting with Podesta and Berger, Wang commended the sound development of current China-U.S. relations.

He said the two sides are committed to carrying out the consensus reached by the countries' leaders and jointly promoting a new model of relationship between major powers.

He called on the two sides to deepen economic and trade cooperation and enhance policy coordination so as to contribute to the sustained and stable growth of the world economy.

Podesta said the Center for American Progress attaches importance to ties with China and is willing to play a positive role in boosting mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

While meeting with Snyder, Wang said he hoped the two sides will enhance cooperation in the areas of automobile industry, agriculture and tourism, as well as local exchanges and cooperation.

Snyder said developing economic and trade cooperation with China is very important and he welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest in Michigan.
